It’s Monday FUNday! And a bone chilling -2 degrees outside. Negative two degrees. I looked at my phone this morning and thought, that can’t be real. When I went downstairs, I found it a little more believable. The lower floor of my apartment is always a few degrees colder than the upstairs. By “a few degrees,” I mean like 10. I often have to wear my coat while I eat breakfast, so that my shivering self doesn’t spill cereal all over the place.

I was listening to NPR this morning and apparently the wind chill is -20 degrees. HOLY. There were schools/commuter rails, etc delayed/canceled because of the cold. I walked to Brighton Center to get the blood flowing, but I just missed the early bus (saw it pulling away when I was a block from the stop), so I had to wait about 15 minutes outside.

Miserable. Absolutely miserable. I thought my toes were going to freeze off. I was pacing and wiggling those little suckers, but no luck. They were thoroughly frozen by the time I got on the bus, but thankfully still attached to my body. Usually, I get super hot on the bus but today I was pretty cold the entire time. I’m only now warming up: sitting at my desk with hot tea and a space heater blasting at my feet.

I feel like I jinxed myself because I told mom last week that I didn’t think the cold was that bad. Alright, New England. You win.
